We thought it was time to read a classic.

In Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift, each land that Gulliver visit has its own idea of what education should be like for the citizens there.

Our project consisted of three parts:

  • before reading
  • while reading
  • after reading

The students got their own exercise book for doing exercises before and while reading.

The "after reading task" was to create a Clothes hanger (book report). Our students worked on following topics:

  • plot
  • characters
  • setting
  • theme
  • review

What were your feelings after finishing the book?

I was happy that he found the way home and lived with his family. (Anja)

I felt well because the stories of Gulliver were fascinating and in the end everything went well. (Lorena)

I was happy because it was an exciting book. (Selina)

What is the author's message or theme?

  • The main idea of the book is not to judge people.
  • How to respect other people.
  • Swift satirized some aspects of politics, religion and human nature.
